The Black Rock Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) is a collaboration of residents, business owners, Black Rock based nonprofits and faith-based organizations committed to the advancement of our neighborhood.
We are dedicated to promoting economic development, enhancing open space and waterfront sections, improving traffic circulation, reducing blight and advancing the general quality of life of Black Rock residents.
The Black Rock NRZ, Inc. received its designation as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2011 to facilitate fundraising.
What is a NRZ?
The process for the development of NRZs in Connecticut was established by Public Act 95-340. “It’s a collaborative process from communities to work with all levels of government to revitalize neighborhoods which have become substandard, unsafe and blighted. The NRZ process provides a mechanism for local stakeholders in these neighborhoods, along with local municipal officials, to develop a strategic plan to revitalize their neighborhoods.” (NRZ Strategic Plan Guidelines)
